Crack of dawn early. I measure my sleep progress by how long I stay in the bed without peeing or getting out for any reason other than peeing. I got in after Californication last night. I tried to sit through the show after that with Joey from Friends, but after 10 minutes it felt like I had popped 2 Ambiens. That show was a horror. Crawled into bed at 9:40, still miss the fridge. Passed out immediately and got up at 4:30 on the nose. Clock illuminated, dogs snoring and wife not moving. I got up and put on my Gym stuff as we are going there at 6:00 AM to work out. Almost 7 hours of straight sleep for me is fantastic. Having cured the onset Apnea by losing the first 100 pounds, sleep is a great thing. If I could lose some dogs in bed next,,,,
We have 63 people left in the Challenge after Week 1. Ten folks for whatever the reason opted out. Forward we go, wishing them well on their paths, as we strive for a loss of a ton by May 1. We will be very close, if everyone stays in.
Taking the day to get a refrigerator, make sure it gets here today, and then back to the market after to stock it. Great waste of a day. Have to remember to keep up with the waters and watch the food. It does not get easier yet, and monitoring your life daily is important. Dreams of intutive eating of course, but until I get to the Goal, not so much.
I did get an email that wanted some clarification from the misinformed blogger that eats Nachos, wings and pizza on her diet. The email told me I was making it up for humor. Here is a little love from her blog, it is part of her Articles-of-Faith. If ever you needed to pray, this ignorant child needs a bigger church:
(http://rejecting300.blogspot.com/2010/12/articles-of-faith.html). Completely cutting food that I love out of my diet is not part of my plan and never has been. It makes no difference if calories come from cheese burgers or grapes, calories are all the same, they are all created equal.
(STOP RIGHT THERE, THAT WAS NOT ONLY WRONG, IT IS SCARY IN ITS IGNORANCE. A POUND OF FAT WEIGHS THE SAME AS A POUND OF FEATHERS, BUT A 1000 CALORIES OF FUDGE WILL FUCK YOU UP 1000 TIMES WORSE THAN A 1000 CALORIES OF CARROTS)
Eating too many calories creates fat. Eating fewer calories than you burn leads to weight loss. The only thing that It is beneficial to eat healthier calories for a lot of reasons such as vitamins and nutrients, and the fact that they tend to be more filling whereas empty calories lead to usually feeling hungry a short time later; but as long as I don't go over 1,600 calories a day, the occasional nachos pizza and buffalo wings will make no difference on my diet.
(AGAIN, WRONG, CONTRADICTORY TO HER PLAN, AND THE 2 PEOPLE THAT COMMENT HAVE YET TO CORRECT HER AT ALL)
The formula is calories in minus calories out = weight loss and the formula makes no stipulation as to where the calories come from.
(HOSTESS TWINKIE COLLEGE - CLASS OF 2014. WHO MAKES THIS PLAN ?)
The efforts I have made to eat healthier while simultaneously counting calories have been solely for the fact that I desire healthier skin, hair, nails etc. which come from the vitamins and nutrients found in the healthier foods. The changes to my diet that I am making now are changes that I plan to keep long after the weight is off.
(PIZZA, NACHOS, FRIED CHICKEN, IN BED FOR DAYS AT A TIME, GREAT NUTRITION ?
WHEN DOES THE EFFORT BEGIN ? )
That means finding a balance between food I love and food that is good for me. Eliminating food that I love now just to lose weight quicker will only lead to a massive binge and rebound once I've lost it. I know this how? Because this is not the first time that I've gained or lost a lot of weight. I've yo-yo'd my entire life up and down and up and down because I went on drastic diet changes to lose, deprived myself of food I loved, spent the entire time thinking about "once I've lost the weight I can't wait to eat X again" and then the next thing I knew I was over 200 lbs again.
(YOU HAVEN'T SEEN 200 POUNDS SINCE REGAN WAS IN THE OVAL OFFICE)
This time I am going to teach myself how to enjoy the foods I love but do so in occasional moderation so that by the time the weight is off I will have developed a habit of enjoying the foods I love in moderation and I will carry that habit with me through life after weight loss.
I'm all for self help. I am all for following your own path. But this shit is too funny for words. In the end, it isn't even the author that is the only one very confused. Yeah, the lies about 60,000 calories over the past 63 days are annoying and all, but that is not the worst part. The comments that are posted, although most of you guys are smart enough to stay away from there while reading and laughing, are even funnier. So we are on the same page, a 300 pound woman on under 1000 calories per day as a diet is very hard. It is possible, but this child is not even close. Promoting that story is actually quite disrespectful to not only herself, but to those that actually live on that level and achieve success. The 50 pound weight loss minimum that her "eating" would bring has only shown up as an 18 pound loss on her "numbers". Somewhere there is a problem and I think it may be her Articles of Faith.
I could care less about this child, my fear is that someone would read this self righteous crap and believe it. She believes it, because eating Fried Chicken is tastier than eating carrots and celery, but her beliefs do not make it fact. Follow people that lost weight, not me as I am still learing and trying, but find people that know what the hell they are talking about. This shit is too precious. As for the e-mailer that wanted the proof, here it is, I told you I can't make this shit up !!

Oh, goodness! Now I have a deep fear of being called out by you! That should help to keep me on the right track:-)
As for her philosophy, I think the problem lies in that those of us with weight problems cannot eat the way "normal" people can. So many years of being overweight messes up your metabolisim, and many of us have food issues that are very difficult to overcome. Her thinking raises that difficult hurdle and perpetuates "stinking thinking"...
And also, once you start eating like shit--it becomes entirely too easy to continue eating like shit. I know this all too well. One bite of fried chicken ends up being a whole bucket. One nibble of an Oreo turns into a week of shit eating. So even if she were correct in saying that all calories are created equally (scoff, even I'm not that dumb) all that shit turns into more shit. Duh.
I'm been trying to be more compassionate and kind this year but this kind of crap pisses me off. If this is Rejecting 300, I've been blocked from her blog so I cant comment over there but one of the first thing I learned from my nutritionist is that all calories are not created equally. Besides that, there are MORE things to count than just calories. If you eat 1000 calories a day and they all come from carbs or fat, you will not only not lose weight, you will gain. She is leaving out the basic tenets for good nutrition. Weight loss comes from healthy eating, not minimizing your eating of unhealthy junk. Junk is junk not matter how you look at it. To be successful you have to accept that there are certain things that should never cross your lips. I feel sorry for her but I'm angry that people are reading this and buying into it without thinking it through and see that her weight loss doesn't match her theories.
I don't understand (well I do, but it doesn't make logical sense!) why someone would want to waste an entire day's worth of calories on one (must be small!) piece of pizza, when you could eat, hmmm I dunno, a dozen eggs or a mixing bowl full of salad! Hello!? If you're on a restricted calorie diet, then why not make those precious few calories count for as much as possible.
The sad thing is that I was there once...yikes!
It's easy to fool ourselves about the calories we take in; you and I both know that from years of eating crap! Sure, you can find a slice of cheese pizza that is only 140 calories but it's convenient to ignore the serving size for the slice (2oz? Nowhere in NYC will you ever find a pizza slice that's just 2oz!). And the nachos at our local restaurant chain, with chili and cheese, is 900 calories for just half a serving. Those two things alone are over 1,000 calories. What happens to the other calories you consumed throughout the day? Don't they get counted????
Hmmm, Allan. I perceive that thou hast fallen off of the "not going to call out bloggers not on the challenge" wagon. chuckle.
I do hate to say it, but you seemed to have scored on this one. I so want to believe that I can have anything I love in moderation. But I can't. I can have some of those foods, but not most. I've come to the conclusion that I just have to change what I love. :}
In fact, maybe I could just love getting healthy! There's a novel idea for ya.
HEY! Check out my blog to look at a t-shirt Beth (Obesity Strike) and I put together declaring our war against obesity and foolish thinking about food.
I think you'd look swell in it. :D
Deb
one of the problems I have is that the occasional nachos, pizza or wing is ok... the key word there is OCCASIONAL. That would mean once in awhile.. not all on the same day.. and certainly not a treat every day.
I, personally, can`t eat some of those things at all. Like Kelly said, one bite just opens the door to an all out binge. God bless those that can keep them as a once in a great while treat.. I`m just not one of those people.
Ya I passed up the leftover fried chicken bucket in my fridge for a salad. No problems doing so, I like salad better. Chicken being ate all around me and I just got done crunching my way through a nice bowl of yum. They were even nice and offered me a piece - the biggest piece in the box. I told them to share it as I was done. :) Now the biscuts and honey on the other hand are a bit tempting. I'm pretty sure it's the honey that I'd love to have a taste of.
Reading this reminds me of how privileged we are. Nachos, pizza, fried chicken, oreos, soda, even salad when we want. Heck even the ability to go out and get a fridge anytime we desire and to demand it be delivered the same day. Truly privileged. Just look at our fat heads - mine included....
Okay, shoving off to go lift weights! Hope you enjoyed your afternoon and were able to get the new fridge. ;-)
That is really sad someone that young doesnt know the difference between fast food versus fresh food and what it does to your body, let alone the calories. Her arteries must be cloggin and cholest. must be off the charts. How did she not learn this in school for god sakes. I guess ignorance is bliss and fattening.
On another note, it is so nice to know someone else whose dog snores like a drunkin sailor. I swear to high heaven you can hear her across the house with all the doors closed, let alone next to me on the floor.
Are you going to get all buff? Cuz a lot of times those buff guys are a**sholes and you might turn into one... oh wait, nevermind...
j/k
Good afternoon sir!!
